This year’s annual textbook survey was conducted by the Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) between July 27 and 31, 2020. The survey aims to provide consumers with information that would assist them to cost-effectively discharge their responsibilities as parents/guardians, and present researched evidence concerning textbooks as critical consumer items to key stakeholders.
Price and availability data were obtained from 83 bookstores located in all parishes, with the exception of Portland: 29 in the Greater Kingston Metropolitan Area (Kingston, St. Andrew, Portmore and Spanish Town) and 54 Urban Centres in 11 parishes. A total of 154 popular textbooks were surveyed, consisting of ninety-one (91) secondary level, fifty-one (51) primary level and twelve (12) infant level textbooks covering nineteen (19) subject areas.
